Using EAC to modify/enter CD info.
« on: 18 Oct 2006, 11:38 am »
I just purchased "The Piano:  A journey from hubris to humility" by David Fung.  EAC cannot find this in the FreeDB database.  When I import the CD using EAC, can I add tags at that time?  Or do I have to use EAC to generate FLAC files, then use the Tools, Edit ID3 Tags in order to modify the data?

Bob,

I thought that if you enter all the required info, song title, artist, etc... that EAC will create everything automatically?

I know it has worked that way for me on the few cd's that the database didn't have.

Hi Bob,

I know you can type the info into EAC and its creates the WAV/CUE files correctly, so I imagine it could work the same for FLAC.

There's also FreeDB2 to try. I'm not sure if its more up-to-date than FreeDB.

BTW: Go to one of the CD stores and cut and paste the track names, its easier than typing.

George and Greg, do you remember how to add the information?  I tried right clicking on the song title (I think it was "unknown") and I didn't see a way to change the title.  Do I just select the title and it will allow me to change the title?  (Which makes sense, but it was early in the morning!  :))  I also took a look at some of the options for the menus, and I also couldn't find anything, but I also didn't take too long to look.  When I've tried "Edit ID3 tags" in the past, this option brings up an explorer to find a file on the hard drive.

Greg, that's a great idea about going to a website and getting the info.  That's much easier than typing in the information myself.  I'll also try the FreeDB2.

I just clicked and added it.

Hi ctviggen,

Two slow left clicks (rather than a double click) works for me.  :)

Also, you could just let EAC create the CUE sheet with Track01, Track02 etc and use an editor to fix them later.
