Signature 30 at RMAF
« on: 16 Oct 2006, 06:33 pm »
All,

I will not be able to attend RMAF this year, but there will be a Signature 30 there at
the Zu Audio room (Room 589).

Zu owns their very own Signature 30 with remote volume control.  Since there will most likely be another amplifier or two in their room, the Sig 30 might not be playing all the time.  If this is the case, just ask Adam Decaria for a listen.

Enjoy the show!

Vinnie

Thought I would follow up on this:

The Sig 30 was in Zu's room, but unplugged and sitting on a back shelf. :duh:
This was one of the things I really wanted to hear at RMAF.........

I think it would have really helped the sound - things were a bit rough with the Definition Pros.

I agree.  Adam told me that they were possibly going to let Louis use it for a while in his room after hours, but as far as I know that never happened.

I was also pretty disappointed that the Super 3 XRS's were not to be heard in the Juicy Music room... and that room could have used a bit of something else too.

I heard the Super 3 XRS briefly on Friday.
They were not broken in and didn't sound anywhere near what they were capable of....

Hey Guys,

Bummer that you couldn't hear the Signature 30 at the Zu Room  :(

I'm pretty sure that Zu was sharing the room with a dealer who sells other amplfiers, so I suppose they didn't want to bring too much attention away from their gear.  I can understand this (especially since I didn't contribute to the cost of the room).  I thought maybe the they'd be able to sneak it in every now and then

Thanks for stopping over to at least see it,

Vinnie

I understand the room-sharing, just disappointed not to hear it.......
Zu's loss for not showing their speaker off to the best of its ability

Maybe you can work something out with that Louis guy at Omega for the next show

All the reports I've heard are that Zu has not been able to put it all together at shows.  Of course this is true of many exhibitors.

What were they showing with and what was wrong with the sound?  What music were they playing?

Hi Brad,

Louis wanted to do RMAF with me, but I told him that I wasn't attending this year.  He hooked up with Art Audio, a company that makes really nice tube amplifiers.  I'm sure Art Audio wouldn't be too keen on the idea of having my Signature 30 in the room either... for the same reason as my last post  :?

Plus, that Louis guy at Omega is crazy... that whole Hemp thing!  :green: :smoke:
Seriously though, Louis and I will most likely show at Montreal again in April.  We love that show and 2007 will be our 3rd year showing there together.

I hear ya!  I have a LOT of Signature 30 owners with Zu speakers (Druids and Definitions) and they really love the synergy.

So why did I miss RMAF this year?  The biggest reasons are that I'm trying my best to catch up with orders and I've been really busy gearing up for Signature 70 production next month  :hyper:

Sorry I missed you guys.

Vinnie

The Art Audios sounded really nice with the Omega Maxhemps - no problems there.

The Zu's sounded a little harsh and not very clear - something I wasn't expecting given their high sensitivity.
I feel pretty sure it was room/treatment related, so don't take it as a blanket condemnation of the Zu's.
Getting good sound had to be difficult for almost everyone -  most systems were sounding their best by Sunday afternoon - time
to take them down
They were playing some Nils Lofgren when I was in the room.

Sounds like your sales are doing pretty good Vinnie......
Keep up the good work.

The sound and finish (Silver Metal) on the hemp's was very good in Louis' room....looking forward to hearing them again..... :thumb:

Hi Vinnie,

While we weren't able to play the Sig 30 during the day I was offering everyone who asked an after hours listening session with the Sig 30 for as long as they wanted.  I had a couple of guys the first night of the show and we listened for quite a while.  Apparently they don't visit the forum.

We were sharing the room so I couldn't really upset our partners in the room by demanding that we play the Sig 30 but like I said if you came to the show and asked me about hearing the Sig 30 then I definitely offered a demo after show hours and after a full day that's not a light thing to offer.

As far as the sound it was good for a hotel room but no one should ever evaluate a purchase by visiting a Hifi show.  You can get a taste for sure but it's only that.  The only place to really evaluate something is in your own home because it is going to be night and day better than you could ever get at a Hifi show.

I'm sorry I couldn't get more exposure for the Sig 30 at the show but I definitely did give anyone who asked an opportunity to hear it and I wasn't short on praise for the Sig 30 either.

Adam,

Thanks again for letting me listen after hours.

I wish I had known that I could have listened with the Sig 30.

Although I can't be certain, I am guessing that the system would have been better with the Sig 30.

I totally agree with your advice about trying at home, and it is cool you have a 60 day return policy to allow people to accomplish that.

Best of luck.

George

Vinnie,

Glad to hear you'll be at the Montreal show. I'd really like to hear the Sig 30. We'll see you there.

Cheers

Brad

Adam,

I wish I had seen you there.  I would have bugged you about the Sig 30   :D
I would have also really like to talk to you about the Zu speakers and cables too.

I do understand that you have show partners that you work with.

Please don't feel sorry about this.  I totally understand how it is when you share a room at these shows.

I really appreciate you allowing people to stop by after hours to listen to the Sig 30 + Zu speaker combo.

I agree.  Hotel rooms can sound pretty crappy, and to make things even more difficult, there are usually lots of people coming in and out, plenty of talking, people walking in front and behind the speakers, people standing in front of the speakers, blasting music from the room next door and/or down the hall, etc.  This is all to be expected, but definitely not the best demo conditions  :icon_surprised:

Hi Daygloworange,

Thanks and I'm a looking foward to it!

Best regards,

Vinnie
