Binding Posts?

Binding Posts?

I don't know which termination I hate most banana plugs or spade lugs! What I really like are ring lugs (no way of 'em slipping off and causing you grief). Vinnie, will the posts on the new 70s accept ring lugs? Thanks.

Hi PLMONROE,

The binding posts on the Sig 30 or 70s cannot accept ring lugs.  There would be no way of getting them on. 

I prefer bananas because they make a good connection, don't seem to come loose, and are easy to connect and remove. 

In theory I'd say the purest connection is bare wire, assuming that you trim and re-strip it when it becomes oxidized.

How 'bout just drilling a couple more holes below the binding posts, add some solder terminals, and then you could just solder your speaker cables straight to the amp.  :green:

If you were to ask for customization, I like Speakons and Cardas patended bind posts.  The Cardas accept ring lugs.  Both are easy to use without tools and quick and secure.  Neither are super expensive but the speakons are cheaper for sure.  Speakons require you to reterminate your audio jewlerly cables though, but if you were going to do ring terminals you were already in this camp.  I won't go back to anything else.

I would be more than happy to pay extra for an upgrade to the Cardas. Vinnie?
