Getting an old dyna kit from the 50's.
« on: 12 Oct 2006, 01:14 pm »
Hey guys,
haven't been around in a looong time, but as chance would have it, i'm going to be receiving an old dyna kit this weekend.
don't know anything about it and i'm a newbie when it comes to tubes anyways.
i was wondering if you guys could help me out in deciding whether or not it's worth fixing up and maintaining - what tubes, what tweaks etc.
i'll post pics next tuesday and hopefully hear from you all,

cheers

You can always call me about it at 651-330-9871.  I have put together hundreds of Dynakits myself of all varieties over the years.

I would be glad to advise you on what to do, and just as important, what NOT to do.

Starters, if it is old, complete, and ready to play but has not been used for years, you MUST bring up the AC line voltage slowly on an AC variac to avoid damaging the old electrolytic capacitors.
