I'm a big fan of Derek Trucks Band, saw them just before the release of Songlines (their new one)  Great Stuff, well mixed in an old movie theatre in Santa Cruz (The Rio)

I think Warren Haynes is a fantastic guitarist, but when I saw him with Gov't Mule the sound was so "All Warren" that it was a dissapointing show.

The two of them together in the Allman Brothers Band is the real treat.   :thumb:

I saw DT with the Allmans during their Beacon stand last spring.

I, too, enjoy Warren's style.  After all, he's a good NC (Asheville) homeboy.  Also, I've seen the Derek Trucks Band a few times in a local club and he's amazing.  I wish his CD audio quality was commensurate with his playing quality; a real shame.

I bought tickets to see Govt Mule in a little Charlotte NC venue (Neighborhood Theater) for the Nov. 15th show.  The bad news: I have to be out of town on business. The good news (a little): I'm going to West Palm Beach. 8)

I like Warren Haynes fine with other bands, but I never warmed up to Government Mule.  I really like Derek Trucks, especially his latest studio album, Songlines.  A album chock full of actual good songs, which is somewhat unusual for a jam band.

It wasn't that it sounded LIKE Warren Haynes, it was that the only thing you could hear was Warren Haynes.  The mix drowned out everybody else in the band

I too like both bands.  About four years ago now, I went to see a show with the Derek Trucks Band opening for John Scofield.  It just so happened that Gov't Mule was playing the same night at another venue(and this is in Lawrence, KS!).  Warren Haynes came over to the Scofield/Trucks show and they all played a couple of tunes together.  A memorable night!

Me likes Gov't Mule too.
And Derek Trucks is a gem (so is his wife: Susan Tedeschi - beautiful looking, excellent emotionally honest and expressive voice, decent electric blues guitar player - what a combo!!). I have only two of his recordings, but I really like them: "Soul Serenade" and "Live at the Georgia Theatre". Warning: he plays slide guitar on everything! This took a little getting used to for me. But after several spins I really started to dig it. Now I'm hooked.
