AV2's on the way!
« on: 10 Oct 2006, 05:30 pm »
Whee!  Thanks to Danny for his patience in answering my numerous emails :)  I've got a pair of A/V-2's and an A/V-2C on their way to me.

I'm going to document my progress for anyone who's interested.  Any tips to get me ready?  I've got all the tools I could ever need, and have built subwoofers before, but any tips specific to building these would be welcome.

Hey Nostagia,

If you have any specific areas of concern, post them, I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have in regards to building or finishing them.

Best of luck

Nothing specific that I can think of as far as the carpentry goes.  It looks pretty straightforward.  It'll be my first 'big' veneering project, so I'm pretty excited.  I've got some gorgeous padauk that I've been hoarding for a while :)

A question about fill: the instructions say to stuff with fiberglass.  Can I just use house insulation?  I've got ooooodles of that lying around.

Thanks,

-Joe

If these go well you may want to try the new floorstanding surrounds Danny just designed.

I'm strongly considering it, as my living room's bizarre design doesn't lend itself to wall-mounted rear surrounds.

Thanks :)

Well, they're here!  I like the face-to-face shipping connectors.  I was wondering how they'd be shipped.  I couldn't believe all 3 sets were in that one little box!

Unfortunately, I prolly won't have time to start them until next week :(  Too many other projects in the queue!
