6BSST RCA input sensitivity? SP2 with 10Bsub
« on: 8 Oct 2006, 12:12 am »
What is the suggested sensitivity setting on the 6BSST for un-balanced RCA inputs?  The processor is the SP2 and the 6BSST drives the FR, FL, and center channels.  The FR and FL are set to large and crossed over at 80 Hz with a 10B sub.  The 10B low pass goes to a 7BST to drive a passive sub.  The center is set as small.  I’m still building my surrounds but they will be driven by a 4BST.

In reading the 6BSST manual it looks like 1v is recommended.

Thanks.

The 2 Volt setting gives you the better noise floor - usually 3 dB better than the 1 Volt setting. The 1 volt setting allows you to have more gain (volume) at a lower setting on the volume control.

I usually recommend leaving the gains all the same (1 or 2 volts) if your using Bryston amps because the SP2 gain settings will not have to be changed as much channel to channel - assuming similar efficiency in the speakers of course.
