Bryston Amps
« on: 7 Oct 2006, 07:37 pm »
Hello to all-I have been recently introduced to Bryson amps  & wanted to ask that since the 20 year warranties are transferable...how many owner transfers are still supported by the manufacturer
I really can't afford a new unit :( so something from the "gently used" classifieds is what I'm keeping an eye out for.
Thank You

Warranty is fully transferrable...When it comes to customer service, Bryston is the best.

Yes the warranty is transferrable but for equipment made after January 2006 (I believe - James can correct me) you must have an original receipt from an authorized dealer. The receipt does not have to be in your name, but it must have the serial number of your piece on it.

Correct. Must have the "Serial Number" and the "NAME" of the "Authorized" Bryston dealer. We assign and record the serial number to the dealer when it is first sold.

Correction, it's the equipment made after 0608, meaning the 8th week of 2006 that needs the original receipt.

I really can't afford a new unit so something from the "gently used" classifieds is what I'm keeping an eye out for.

As others have pointed out, the warranty is indefinitely transferable.  My advice is to join Audiogon (if you haven't already).  Monitor Audiogon daily, check the going prices, and be patient.  When you see one offered but the price is too high, make a polite, definite offer at your price and be prepared to buy it or receive a counter-offer.  I have bought two 14B ST that way (I'm bi-amping), and the total cost was less than list price for a single new one.

By the way, the second amp was bought at the going price for a used 4B SST.  No one had made an offer after several weeks (who knows why!), and when I made one, it was accepted.

Audiogon is a great way to get good used gear.  It is safest is to use a credit card and buy from someone with a well-established record on Audiogon.

Despite all my comments on price, these are wonderful products at ANY price.  Good luck with your shopping!
