Working on my third AR, I was doing some signal tracing from the headshell to the RCA jacks when I descovered that AR switched the grounds on the left and right channels. Therefore, to wire the cartridge correctly, the red (R+) goes with the blue (R-) and the white (L+) goes with the green (L-).
The Current standard is:
RED = R+
GREEN = R-
WHITE = L+
BLUE = L-
Did the standards change in the late 1960's? The reason is why would all 3 turntables be wired incorrectly?
To make sure I wasn't insane, I checked my VPI and Empire 598 and they are fine.
Can anyone shed some light on this subject? By the way, after I switched the ground leads, I can't tell the difference......yet.
