Welcome to the "SOFT PARADE"

Been a while since I listened to Vinyl. :(

While rearranging my office, I found a lamp to place over my turntable and took it to MUSIC ROOM #1 , to plug it in.

Well one thing led to another and I decided to make sure I had placed it well for good ability to see the grooves and track breaks.

So I pull out a DOORS album and spin it up.

Then it crosses my mind that some have said the NuFORCE amps will cause problems with vinyl :nono:, so I dropped the arm (gently of course :icon_lol:) in the grooves, and headed for the listening chamber.

Hypnotic is what it was.

The sound even on a cartridge that hasn't even 60hours on it.

I couldn't leave my seat.

Then the last cut, which is the title cut began.

Man as much as I hate to admit it.  Vinyl does have a "magical" quality about it.

Fuller, richer, more "something" that made it smooth, yet just as detailed.

And that kinda PO's me since it is so much harder to listen too, not being able to change tracks/cuts as easily and such.

But I did get down on my knees and thank myself for keeping my table.

And by the way, the NuFORCE work fine with vinyl and while there is a very small amount of noise (negligible) when the arm is up, I can only assume it is the result of the old INTEGRA phono section.

And if you haven't listened to SOFT PARADE lately, I do highly suggest it

I am lucky enough to have picked up a Japanese Pressing back in the 80's :thumb:

Great album.   :D

I think vinyl sounds more "alive" than digital.  There's something about the way the music hits you that is more intense and involving.

It is something different.

Even the image depth was slightly different.

its more relaxing and satisfying than rbcd.  more organic and immediate.  further, the amount spent on playback equipment, once you hit the $200 mark will be more rewarding as you increase the amount.

buying used vinyl allows many more mistakes to be made for a given outlay of funds.  here in LA, dollar records are readily available in mass quantities, hence, its a record collectr/music lover's paradise.

I don't think this is quite the same but The Doors are releasing all their studio albums in a box set.  Due out the end of November.  What's the big deal?   DVD-A with 5.1 and 2 channel hi rez versions.    I can't wait to hear Soft Parade in high rez.   My studio albums aren't really mint copies.

Recently auctioned off most of my vinyl before moving as I realized it'd been in a closet unused for 12 years. Kept a lot of the old stuff, Doors, The Soft Parade is still here. It was my favorite Doors album although one of the less critically acclaimed. What memories that one brings back.
