Acoustic blues performers still recording:
I second Rory Block - best female acoustic blues artist alive (ever?). Have several of her CDs and have seen her live several times. She is awesome.
Also check out John Hammond's stuff.

... and also Robert Lighthouse and Otis Taylor. And recently passed: John Fahey. For oldsters there of course is: Mississippi John Hurt, Louisianna Red, Mance Lipscomb, Lightnin' Hopkins, Skip James, Bukka White, Big Bill Broonzy, Robert Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Son House, Reverend Gary Davis, Brownie McGhee & Sonny Terry, John Lee Hooker, Charley Patton, etc.

And now that I'm home I also see acoustic blues CDs by: R. Crumb and the Cheap Suit Serenaders (yes, the demented comic illustrator R. Crumb), Champion Jack Dupree, J.B. Lenoir, Taj Mahal, Saffire (The Uppity Blues Women), Otis Spann, Doc Watson, Josh White, and Josh White Jr. Well, that's about it for CDs I have of acoustic blues. And I love them all.

Thanks rockadanny for all the Rec's. :thumb: I have plenty of hunting and listening to do now.
