Make sure to post your impressions. I'd be very interested to hear your comparison to the BAT

i am excited because i know how talented Alex is.last year i had several discussions with Alex at length about mods that he had tweeked on his mono extremes.Alex had a pair in his own personal two channel rig and i bugged Klaus for six months solid until he agreed that they would build me my own pair of "special order" mono extremes. Alex and Klaus also confided and i was sworn to secrecy that he had two working prototypes of a tube preamplifier.it turned out later that one of them after further testing ,tweeking and refinement would become the Candela. he voiced the Candela at home using a pair of mono extreme SEs just like mine. the synergy between the extreme SEs and my new Candela should be unreal.the Candela will be #7 on the list of preamplifiers that i have compiled over the last three years. the Tempest is by far the best solid state preamplifier i have owned and as a matter of fact i still own it. i own a Anthem Pre1L tube preamplifier with NOS Amperex 7308 goldpins that sounds very good and exhibits a more euphonic sweeter presentation. the BAT VK 3i is also very nice but in a different way. it has a slight warmth and is cleaner and more open sounding. Vicktor Khomenko is no slouch when it comes to building preamplifiers either, even with this particular improved entry level offering.i know that the Candela is built using audiophile approved top shelf parts and endless hours were spent getting it just right. there was no rush to bring the Candela to market and this preamplifier is the fruit of people who really care about the build and sound quality and it is killing me that i have to wait until next tuesday to hook it up and start burning it in. thanks....WCW III
