So there is a really good band named Club D'elf that mostly just hangs around here in Boston that will be making a few rarish trips to NYC this fall. One of the gigs at Tonic is a cd release party and John Medeski will be sitting in with them. He is a long time colaborator with them and always pumps up the energy of the show. Club D'elf is one of my favorite bands to go and see live because they are always different. The basis of the band is that Mike rivard is really the only constant. Some times they will have a DJ, keys player, electric viola or tabla. Basicly you get to here the same songs with different instument lineups. they are very jazzy with a heavy Morroccan influence. Mike Rivard was good freinds with Mark Sandman and was part of that whole Boston music scene that Morphine was a part of. Mike has played bass in the Morphine Orchestra with the other two guys from the band. Anyway enough rableing about the band just go see them! If you don't at least look up one of their seven live releases or thier new studio effort which I have yet to hear.
