Hey guys,
Right after Christmas I plan to look into buying a bulk amount of Brass sheets and have them
cut to size to fit the top plate of the TVC's. I should be able to make 5 or 6 of them for around $30 each if not less, incl shipping to the US.
With all my experimenting with Brass & tonewood, I agree 100% that replacing the screws with Brass screws is the way to go. I have not tried this, but do not doubt it would be an effective tweak and have had this thought for some time. Brass mounting screws changed the way my turntable cartridge sounds....
Making certain that little or no ferrous material is inside the TVC would be worthwhile too.
If anyone has a local supplier of these brass screws, would they be interested in buying some in bulk & offering them to others here? I may be able to find a local supplier, but am going to work on securing the Brass top plates for now. can these be purchased at Home Depot??
if Brass is good for a trumpet, its gonna ge great for the TVC.
Nick,
You've made my Christmas this year, you deserve a day or 2 off!!!!!
Glad to hear you installed a polarity switch. What about a +6db version and an option to lift the ground?
with these 3 options, this TVC would be able to be compared 'straight up' to ALL the high end TVC's.
