What is the goal after deciding that there is or isn't such a thing as "burn-in"? If there is such a thing, it is not obvious to many, so the effect is minimal, if even measurable.  As an example, while there was an obsession with speaker cable burn-in, the real culprit was the speaker's performance and replacing the speaker is what brought real improvement to the system, (for awhile).

Isn't it too frustrating to persue something with such vigor that brings such a small return. Everyone has a system that is imperfect. Accept it for what it is and enjoy the music. Go for the obvious improvements.

im a newcomer to hi fi so when the flyer with the new cables came i was curious as to what may be the scientific answer to the burn in time? there are numerous answers in the post also new questions.which has helped me to make my own judgment. the new cable  has  approx 30 hrs on it through my av amp whilst i was on holiday.. so last night i did a blind test with both my new cables and old through my hi fi system .  what i found was that the new cable did give better results but it some times depended on the recording of the track or album. 9 out of 11 songs for the new cable. so not to bad as the newer cable (£45) is only £25.00 more expensive than my old one. Because of the views of various people in the post i believe it will not be worth me thinking OK may be i should spend £200 more and see what result i get,, i just cannot believe it would give me that massive extra performance for the cost.. But i still would like to make use of home trials and test a  maximum of three different cables all at the same price.

THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPONDED
