New family room setup
« on: 4 Sep 2006, 09:19 pm »
Today I finished my HT setup in the family room and I have to say it is a nice "little" system to hold me over till I can get the front pj HT setup in the basement.  :green:

While maybe not quite as clean looking as the previous setup (Panny plasma + all gear in a Salamander cabinet), the bigger screen definitely is nice.

Below are some pics showing the old system, the setup yesterday with the new tv, and today with the new tv and new stand.

Here is the equipment list in case you are curious:

Sony KDS-60A2000 1080p DLP
Denon 3805 receiver
Oppo OPDV971H upconverting dvd player
DirecTV HD receiver
DirecTV Tivo
AV123 XL-S speakers for L/R channels
AV123 Swan Diva R300 speakers for Surround
Unknown in-walls for back speakers
NHT amp + sub
Tice Power conditioner
Speaker cable and ic's are stuff I had lying around

Plasma based system:

Sony based system with Salamander cabinet:

Sony based system with Bello stand:

It is going into the bedroom for all the gear in there.

It will look much nicer than the open rack I have in there currently.

Very nice setup George.  Curious how you like the Sony LCD vs. Panny's Plasma?

Aren't the little xl-s great speakers for the cash.  Don't know how Mark makes on any $ on them?

Regards,
Jeff

Too early to tell on the Sony vs. Panny.  I have owned that Panny for 3+ years so it was tweaked to the max and I was getting everything I could out of it.

I am probably going to get the Sony professionally calibrated.
