I've been to a lot of concerts over the years......more than I can remember.....and some that I know I was at because I kept the ticket stub but I sure don't remember a damn thing that happened. I guess it was a 70's thing.
The first concert I ever attended was Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes in July of 1971. They performed on the back of a 40' flatbed trailer after a motocross race I was at in St Charles Missouri. I still remember sweaty Teddy screaming his head off while he performed
Papa's Will. Not the greatest concert I've seen but surely a memorable one.
If I had to narrow all of the concerts I've seen over the years to just two, it would be these.....
Number 2 would be the
Blue Man Grouup, The Complex Tour.

I
never expected what I witnessed at that concert. These guys started with an opening blow right to throat and then held us down and then beat us senseless for almost two hours. It was
the best sound I've ever hear at a concert before. Clean, clear, and dynamic. The visual show was just as good if not better than the audio. The concert DVD that is out only tells about 1/10th of the story. This was a concert you had to experience to believe.
My number 1 would have to be
Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival
I won't cut and paste all the performers but here's a link to the lineup for those three days.
http://www.tnt-audio.com/shows/crossroadslineup_e.htmlThe Saturday night Blues jam was simply phenominal. It had Hubert Sumlin, Jimmie Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray (Robert Randolph not shown far right). It wasn't because I had press passes, though that helped, it was because of the talent that was assembled all in the same place at the same time. This was a modern day Woodstock for the Blues (and then some). Something that will likely never take place again.
heres the link to just a few of the pics I snapped that weekend...
