HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, Frank, I know you would step in, HAHAHAHAH, I love that Super Pas 4i. You are right about I failed to mention that it was a 13 year old vintage. OK folks, it is a 13 year old preamp, not the most current AVA product that I have been talking about, but like Frank said, the newer product have been updated with more durable hardware now.

But think about it, maybe that's what the other high end manufacturers provide, the perception of equipment rigidity with so so internal circuitry.

I am still thinking about when to upgrade my 550hc.

You may be laughing rustneversleeps, but I think this thread turned into a bunch of crap from you towards AVA! :nono: It is not fair to say bad or not so good things about a product without being upfront about which product you are talking about. A lot of people have made a lot of big changes for the better to their product in the last 13 years. Shame on you! :nono: :nono: :nono:
Frank does not at all deserve to have any of his products talked about like you did without being specific.

I know exactly where you are coming from. But knowing Frank's engineering, he wouldn't replace anything unless he has to, so who would guess that he went from aluminum to steel, and upgrade the RCA jack, to Frank, a jack is a jack, as long as it makes good contact. To me, Frank has always been into the guts of the equipment, so I thought he might have overlook the other parts of it. In any case, I should have been more upfront about the model year, so I apologize.
