Today I took some annual leave to compare 10" woofers in an attempt to find a replacement for the Peerless unit used in my MB0W1 3-way. It's been discontinued in some mindless corporate move by the parent company. I've measured and listened to 3 or 4 possibilities in the under-$100 category, and thought a couple were doing pretty well. Then, for fun, I hooked up the HT3 and did a tone sweep with it and the most promising 10" I've found to date. Now the TC 10" costs twice as much, but we're not talking diminishing returns here.
The old Peerless is a fine unit, and sounds very uncolored even with no crossover, but it was trampled by the TC. No contest. No diminishing returns.
Hi The Peerless really is a fine driver. And it's much easier to work with than the TC, which is really a subwoofer and has to be wrestled to the ground to achieve a crossover even as low as 250 Hz.
