Musical Design ?

I'm trying to find out any info about the Musical Design D-75b amp from anyone who owns, listened to one. I want to use this to power my soon to be finished Ellis 1801 speakers. They seem to show up used for about 500 give or take a little. Thanks

You may want to check with Dave Ellis.  He has been very satisfied with an inexpensive Jolida integrated that he modded.  I'm sure he would be willing to let you know what he did to make it sound so good.  It's only 40 wpc but he says it drives the 1801's very well.  It should be in your price range also.  If you have any extra cash to spare, you may want to test the Audio by Van Alstine integrated.  It sells for a little over a grand brand new and looks like a really nice design.  I have AVA gear and love it with the Ellis speakers.

Good luck!

Thanks Tyson.  I was too lazy to post the link, however, that integrated looks pretty cool.  I listened to a non-hybrid AVA amp, the Omegastar, and was VERY impressed.  I would bet that little integrated would be a great match for Ellis or any other speakers in their range.

I have a D75b with a custom transformer (dual secondaries). Used within its power limitations, it is wonderful.  It has both detail and warmth without "conjesting" everything as most of the tube amps that I have heard in the price range have done.
