Bottlehead 6DN7 amp done my way

This little integrated stereo SET amp is actually very nice and amazing in what speakers it can push. It's my favorite little amp. The kit stock with a few upgraded parts and CNC machined plexiglass "outriggers".

Very sweet indeed!

I also own one, built with Luv by the elves at Cain & Cain, with chassis work done in rock Maple, by the Chief Elf. Now with Mundorf PIO caps/MQ iron it is a stunning little amplifier, and sweep tubes are Serious Tubes. With a high output Sony spinner of ~3V, it does more than okay with 90db speakers, and with the Fostex FE168 BIB's, (94.5db + ~5 db horn gain) it is attached to, drives them with Authority for King Size sound in a ridiculously small pairing. The 6DN7 has Real Bass in there. I wish I had a digicam to show the folks.

This tube makes me interested in what a 6AU5GTA would be like in SET. These tubes are some of the very best engineered and built tubes extant, coming from the end of the tube era. As horizontal sweep tubes, biased into Class A, and intended for a bandwidth that also made them ideal for audio, they HAD to be linear, -if they weren't, you would SEE it!!

Dmason- Terry does some really nice work. You can tell their background is in wood working and furniture.

Beautiful.  Built a Foreplay once, wish I had more time to do more.
