I need short speakers...how about some small OBs?

I didn't want to disrupt the gravity around the local dark star, so I thought I'd ask a question in a new thread...

I have a problem.   I've moved to a new house which is much smaller than our old one.  The main audio system will be housed in the basement, but we still need music upstairs.  I have a pair of KEF bookshelf speakers that I intended to use for the second system.  But with the speakers sitting on stands, my wife deemed them too big and bulky for the space.  I'd put them in a handy bookcase, but the space is so small that any bookcase would prove far less than handy.

The most convenient place for the speakers is in front of/below the bay window.  But the desire would be to keep the speakers below the level of the window.  This is about 24". So, I could put the KEF speakers on really low stands and keep them below 24".  Or...

...maybe I could make some OB speakers that were less than 24" high!

Is there any specific advice available for such short OB speakers?  I appreciate that the height is likely to impose great compromises.  But at the moment, the height is a binding constraint.  Budget is also a big issue, and it seems that one can cobble together some OB speakers on the cheap.

Is it worth using the Visaton B200 in this arrangement?  Or is the situation so compromised that those drivers would be overkill?

If anyone has any other smart ideas about cheap, short speakers, I'd love to hear them.  I've repackaged a Sonic Impact T-amp to use in this system, although I also have a 25w NAD integrated that I could use.

Thanks for any advice.
