OLIVE CRASH
« on: 18 Aug 2006, 02:34 am »
Hey guys, just wanted to rain on everyone's parade with my olive musica. I got it last month in the group buy and began having some dropout problems a few days ago. Tonight it went down. Tried the too good to be true power on/off with no avail. Disconnected the power with no benefit. It keeps restarting saying "Reading library." I used the startup cd to restore which did bring it back up. I then tried to listen to internet radio and it would only give me 2 stations/genre. Then BOOMB crash again. I've contacted olive to see how well they stand behind their product, but I must say I'm a little nervous at this point.

Ugly.  Just to prove what a dinosaur I am... it sounds like a operating system failure and not a disc problem, otherwise the streaming wouldn't be affected too, correct???  All the best with getting the problem repaired, and please get back with how it all comes along!!!

Edit... and welcome to AC!!!  Sorry it had to start with this...

Perfect example of why it pays to be a late adopter.

Hope you get it worked out in a timely fashion.

This could happen in any music server with a hard drive.  I would say this is a perfect example of why everyone should be backing up their music servers (Olive now allows using external USB drives to do backup).
