I have a few pair of these around that I no longer need. I am keeping two pair around for testing reasons. The pair for sale are brand new and never been hooked up to anything. These are the "naked Autoformers" and DO NOT have any type of termination on the leads as shown in the picture below.

Price is $380 pr. including shipping.

Nice product shots! :thumb:

So do those cables hate themselves?  Cause if you're a cable and have an anti-cable position, that's gotta be pretty tough to live with.

as a maggie owner these autoformers have some appeal.
Is there any real world reviews of these by AC'ers?

PM SteveK about the autoformers.  He runs some on his Maggies and loves them.

What do you do with Zero Autoformers? Why might they be good for Maggies?

You raise the impedance of the speaker and present an "easier" load for your amp.

They are good for Maggies since that speaker line tends to have an impedance around 4 ohms and many amps don't perform their best at that impedance level.

This is true but an even bigger problem is that the impedance curve is all over the place and often drops well below 4 ohms depending on the model. Tube amps hate this. Tube amps prefer to see a more consistant, linear impedance plot.

I was actually at SteveK's last night.  We were listening with the autoformers connected at teh 4x tap (a 16 ohm load) for the VTL's.  Very nice and very easy on the amps.

Steve says every time he ups the tap used (8, 12, or 16 ohms), the bass gets better, deeper, and tighter.  That's almost certainly the best bottom end I've ever heard from a pair of III A's.

Bill....Besides Maggie's, are there any other speakers that you could think of that would benefit for using the Autoformers ? Thanks.....

Hi Chris,
It has more to do with the amplifier/speaker synergy. I have used these with many different speakers as well as built them into the crossovers of my Musica Bella speakers. Here at AC woodsyi has a pair of Bella speakers with ZEROs built into the extrenal crossovers.
I realized good results with the Daedalus DA-1, Adagio and most noticeably with the Usher D2's when driven by some tube amps that don't like 4 ohm loads. It did wonders with the D2/Almarro 205 mkII combination. Most solid state amplifiers would not require the ZEROs and I found the best (more noticeable) results with tube amps in use.

There are also a lot of consumers that are using these with HT receivers and 4 ohm speakers as many receivers are not comfortable with heavy loads.
