Hello everyone,I'm a newbie to this site & my question(s) are related to all things about turntables...I'm struggling w/the issue of either getting back into LP playback (I have a LARGE collection of mint 70's-80's MFSL/Nautilus/Direct-To-Disc LP's) along w/ even a larger collection of the same era music.
My questions are focused on the turntable individual components...what is a plinth?-the science of turntable operation...cartridges (types & the whole input/output millivolt thing) the arm which holds the cartridge,weight...balance,vibration control/tracking... the IC's & then...how much should I spend to start out with to figure out if this is something that I will enjoy compared to 15 years ago when Lp's are all that there was or should I just get rid of all the LP's/-I mean I've got The Beatles Box Set & all the MFSL UHQR's-is there a budget way to re-enter this realm as an experiment w/out breaking the bank & sacrificing money that could be spent on other system/equipment upgrades? I do remember way back when all I had was a B&O linear tracking TT running through a Carver receiver...whats the simplest most economical way?- I mean if all I had was $500 for the complete setup what would be your recommendations?
