Just thought I'd remind all of you out there that are still using that antiquated, scratchy, dust ridden and clearly inferior technology that this Saturday August 12th is National Vinyl Record Day  :thumb:

If you want to read some more, here's a link;

oh, and here's a cool pic of my turntable too  :green:

I say we should all celebrate this holiday by buying a record from our favorite vinyl vendor.

Here's mine;

I'll have to miss the official "National Vinyl Record Day" but my buddy, Jack, and I are headed down to Record Exchange on the 19th in search of the perfect Sarah Vaughn record.  Maybe some Maynard and Dizzy, too.

How's the Jolida amp sounding?  There's a slight hum in my amps....no, that's the A/C running 24/7.
When the heat breaks, come on up for a full Yamamoto experience.

What a cool post it is, too  :D

The resource for Independent Record Sellers is priceless....and the fact that it's a charitable Foundation recognized by California means any contribution to them is tax deductible.  They even show proof of this - which is a nice touch for safety.

San Luis Obisbo is about 3.5+ hours from here...a bit more than a day trip for me, unfortunately (plus, I'm out of town starting tomorrow  :( )

Ahhh, ok. My apologies everyone, as have had various sites 'steal' my photos and bandwidth so have the server set to not allow referring URL not originated from our core IP address. Alas, am too busy to make a gallery right now as am about the leave to a concert in Boston.

 Bowls??? Those look like the albums I left on my dash board. Just turn them upside down and place them back on the dash, they'll be ready for playing in no time. :lol:

Great link Chris  :lol:

I celebrated Vinyl Record Day by bocotting my Squeezebox and spinning black discs for about three hours. I also picked up a few new pieces of vinyl at my electronic surplus store of all places. I found some Ella, Nancy Wilson, Bill Withers, Rush, Billy Joel and the find of the day was a 12" single from Morris Day and the Time doing Oak Tree.

Speaking of stupid American holidays, ther eare entire websites devoted to these 'holidays'. Heres one;
Bizarre American Holidays

Just picking a few of my favorites....
1/9     Play God Day
2/5     Disaster Day
2/23     International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day
3/9     Panic Day
3/20     Festival Of Extraterrestrial Abductions Day
3/30     I Am In Control Day
4/11     Eight-Track Tape Day
5/14     National Dance Like A Chicken Day
5/17     Pack Rat Day
6/3     Repeat Day, Repeat Day

6/19     World Sauntering Day (I've always wanted to saunter)
7/14     National Nude Day (Wooo Hooo!)(oh wait a minute, how'd that fat chick get in here?)
7/27     Take Your Pants For A Walk Day
8/13     Blame Someone Else Day
8/18     Bad Poetry Day (I think, therefore I drink, and sometimes I stink, but don't blink)
