Add me to the list as another who picked it up on the lunch break and listened to as many tracks before heading back into work. Out of their 6 albums I still think The Bends is it!

If you like Radiohead I highly recommend Grandaddy who also had a new release today, their 4th I believe- Sumday. They have an amazing sound that me like a lot!

I saw some 12" singles of HTTT's songs in Time Square's Virgin Mega, but I didn't see any LP's in there vinyl section.

Radiohead on vinyl supposedly sounds really good. I might just pick up Hail now esp. the 45.

My opinion after listening to a few songs over the net, low fi, is that they are treading water. I like the atmosphere but the music itself is lacking...and Thom Yorke is looking more and more like a poseur.

The Bends is an extremely listenable album as well as more experimental tracks like Paranoid Android off of OK but a 'song' like Spinning Plates is annoying...

You want to know what really started to turn me off of Radiohead? That godawful documentary "Meeting People is Easy". Yes indeed most rockstars are pretentious assholes...

Amazon's description says something to the effect of OK Computer mixed with Kid A. OK is one of my favorite albums... Kid A is one I won't listen to at all... can't stand it. So, after listening to the Amazon clips, I'd have to say the Amazon description is about right... It's crappy like Kid A but, has some good stuff like OK Computer that almost save it. However, I should really listen to the whole thing before making such a harsh judgement... but, why wait? I'm pretty sure my mind won't change. OK had such good drive and crazy, wild fun stuff... but, somehow was very melodic. It sounded purposeful. Kid-A sounds like a guy messing around in his basement. The new stuff sound very much like someone has gotten very high on themselves.

Everything I have from Radiohead up to but not including Kid A is at least pretty good. I haven't heard Amnesiac but, was told it was like Kid A so, I didn't want to waste perfectly good ear time on it.

I'd be interested in listening to 'Grandaddy'... but, will wait till I can download some MP3's before deciding to buy it.

Somthing someone would cook up in their basement huh? Have you really listened to the albums kida/amnesiac? I doubt it, that is unless you listened to it once or twice and only to a few track. I guess that passes for listening these days. KidA/Amnesiac are by far the most recognized works that any artist did a few years ago, albums that literally took two years of studio time to conceive. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to convert you guys into post-OKcomputer appreciators, but come on those albums are anything but mediocre. Call them bad if you must, but not meidocre.

This is undeniably the best album since Tom Waits - Alice. Seriously I am AWESTRUCK. It is THAT good.

I have all their albums...the bends being my favourite although realizing the superiority of OK Computer. Hail to the Thief is indeed their most brilliant to date. It is now ranked in my top 5 of all time.

I tried... it just wouldn't take. I was very excited when Kid-A came out.. I had really gotten into Radiohead a few years previous to that. I listened to Kid-A briefly at first, then the whole thing from beginning to end twice. It was torture. Most of Radiohead's albums have to grow on me.. and HTTT sounds like it could. Kid-A could not. I never said it was mediocre I just think it sucks.

..note on the Grandaddy. Their latest release "Sumday" actually sounds a lot less like Radiohead than there earlier work.. thinking more so of "the Software Slump"(centers around Jed.. a robot who drinks himself to death) and how it relates to "Ok Computer".
Nontheless, Sumday is a good album that still holds onto the bands core sound. This one just flows for late night listening.. laid back and easy to listen to.
For those looking for something different but still accessible i recommend giving this band a try.
BTW, I think HTTT is a good.

I just sat down and started listening to it. I thought it was very slow and droning. Didn't get it all, but I listened to side one all the way through trying to get into it.

Then I changed the speed on my TT to 45 rpm.

Sounds much better now.

I quite agree. KA/A were forward-looking in a way that's rare in pop albums (in my non-expert experience). I found them very compelling, and occasionally mind-blowing. We are less impressed with HTTT, although it is certainly a 'nicer' sound... More approachable, less interesting.

DirecTV has been showing their "Hail to the Thief" concert live at Shepherd's Bush in London. Not bad.

I love The Bends...definitely my favorite Radiohead Album, with OK Computer as a second (find myself fixated on "No Surprises" right now). Definitely don't apppreciate Amnesiac to the level of the other two albums...I'm waiting for HTTT to come in the mail any day now, though I've had the opportunity to listen to the album for weeks courtesy of internet shareware.

Radiohead is the greatest.
