Do you ever hear recorded flaws?

I just bought a pair of Axiom M22's. One of the disks I've been auditioning them with is Mark Knopfler's "Sailing to Philidelphia". On track 5 "The Last Laugh" I kept hearing distortion during certain guitar passages that I never heard before. So I switched back to my old speakers and it was still there, just nowhere near as audible.

I haven't heard the same distortion on any of the other tracks or other CD's so my only guess is that the amp that the guitar player was using was clipping. This is otherwise an excelent sounding CD recorded in HDCD. I guess I would have thought they would have caught and corrected such a problem during recording.... But

So does anyone else hear these kind of things?

I hear guitar amp distortion on track 8, Prarie Wedding, of "Sailing". I first thought that it was my system, but now I don't think so. I'll have a close listen to track 5 tonight.

I hear guitar distortion all the way through every album ever made by Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Radiohead, White Stripes, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, etc.

That's just rock music (in general). Distortion just adds a bit of flair.

What about Paul McCartney holding back a laugh while singing "writing fifty times" in 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer'? Does that count?

There's also a part in "She's So Heavy" where I think the mic pre overloads with a squawk of distortion (a long "yeah" is sung) and then there's a voice in the background saying something I can't quite make out.

PM's laugh may be the best example I've ever heard.

Also about 2/3 of the way through The Eagles="Life in the Fast Lane" there is a four or five second "hard spot"-especially during some guitar licks. The sound is dreadful. It's on the CD, DVD-A and as I recall my old LP. Must have been a mic issue or a drunk sound man.

I got a real kick out of that. I could even here it on my MP3 version on my PC (it was most convient for this purpose).
