Here's a link to one of the sets:

The only reviews I've found were on Cnet & Audioreview.
At that price, I'm not expecting a lot, but it might be worth a gamble.

Of course, Fluance may just be an abbreviation for Flatulence....

Hopefully, there is a credible opinion out there.

Brad,

I'm pretty sure that fluance speakers are the same as the infamous white van speakers.  I wouldn't risk it if I were you!

They are not the same as the White Van speakers in my understanding (although many others like Digital Dogg, Paradime, Audiofile, etc.) are.  If you look over on hometheaterforum.com you'll find many happy owners of Fluance speakers.  I have no direct experience with them though.

Actually they are not as bad as you thought.  The brand was formed by a former Energy engineer and made some pretty big speakers.  The line has been floating around in mid-fi stores and never get its recognition.  It has been in the market for nearly a decade.  Probably they don't have budget for marketing.

Here's another thread about them:

Probably a piece of electrician's tape over the name-tag would improve them, but it would take away a conversation piece.

Thanks for the replies.
I think I'm going to give the small floorstanders a shot.
They fit into my budget at this point.  :)

Well,

Idiotboy went through with the xaction.
Won the auction.  Paid for the speakers.

Got a call tonight from stationstreet.  They don't have the speaker I won in the auction.   They won't answer the phone.  No email reply.

Buyer beware their 1000plus point ebay rating.

 :finger:

*ssholes!!!!!!

On to the Aegis 2's........

Major retraction:

They called me after my email this morning and offered me the next model up for what I already paid.    :D  The guy that called was very sincere and apologetic.

This was StationStreet up in Canada (eh).
They will ship the speakers today, too.
I ended up getting the 938b's for $165  8)

I guess it wasn't too reasonable of me to expect them to answer the phone at 12:30
But then again, when was the last time I was reasonable after Thursday night dart league and several pitchers of Shiner Bock?

That's good to hear. Always nice when a company steps up like that.

Have another Shiner Bock to celebrate.
