We have been "hard at it" finishing the work on this design, and I am confident you will like it.

There is already a remarkable amount of interest in this upgrade headphone cable.  All stock headphone cables are mediocre at best, and other aftermarket cable designs leave much to be desired.

It employs four-conductor "bi-wire" or "balanced" configuration for extremely low noise and exceptional clarity, our certified 5-nines Ultra-Pure Cryo-Silver conductors, solder-free jack terminations treated with Walker Audio Extreme SST (crucial for transferring the delicate signal unscathed), air dielectric, Teflon insulators, Mil-Spec helical braided shielding for EMI/RFI rejection, which is not in the signal path, but is commoned at the input only (to harmlessly drain captured noise away from the driver motors), each cable is fully conditioned on the audiodharma Cable Cooker 2.5 Pro prior to shipment, etc., etc.  In other words, this is a leading-edge statement headphone cable - the best we could make it, nothing is withheld - yet the price is very competitive with other aftermarket upgrade headphone cables.

Our unique design truly sounds amazing, and will literally transform your headphones.  Contact me if you have any questions or would like to try it.

It is great to hear from our customers!  Here is an unsolicited customer testimonial on the Sennheiser headphone cable -
"we couldn't have said it better ourselves":

"Hello Brad,

Cable arrived yesterday, just in time for my birthday - and what a present!  (Right out of the box) it has transformed my Sennheiser HD600 (headphones) beyond recognition.   I work in a photographic darkroom on my own most days and rely on my Sony personal CD player to keep me sane.  The improvement over the stock cable is huge - to the point of being quite un-nerving - the sound now has such a tangible, real physical quality that it feels as though the music is hard-wired to my brain.  The placement of the images both inside and outside my head is very precise through vertical and horizontal planes.  Unfortunately I can't so easily use it as background music as I keep stopping to listen - not good for productivity.

I never fail to be astonished at the quality and value of your products compared to other manufacturers. Thanks for another great product, they never disappoint" - D.S., UK

Interesting.  I'm surprised that they are less expensive than most of the other cables you make.

I'll be keeping a look out for thoughts from the folks at Head-Fi as these start to go out there.  I'm generally not a believer in anything more than decent quality and construction in cables (not into exotics), but people keep encouraging me to try something like Cardas on my HD-600s.

Price ascribed by several factors - introductory pricing, relatively lower assembly labor man-hours and raw material costs, etc.

BradJudy,

I owned my Grado SR-60's for about 5 years....travelled with them, used thm at home (7' cord was such a pain) and really knew what they sounded like.  It's really amazing the difference before and after Brad changed out wire leads on them to silver cryo'ed wire and all the other things he does.

It's a $69 cable to begin with...spending $200+ seems foolhardy, but I really think I'm listening to multi-hundred $$$ headphones now.  I liked the SR-60 better than the SR-80 ($95) myself five years ago....I wanted them to travel with so my choices were between those two in the line.

Having known Brad for a while, I was the first to ask him to mod my Grado's with a longer cord.  I was going to buy a Grado 15' extension for $39.95 from Headwize...but decided to spend another $200 to do it right.

I now have in-ear, dual driver phones from Westone that I take on the road (less bulk and they better protect my ears on planes) that I bought for $249.00 a couple years ago, but I now have reference quality phones in the SR-60 a la RAL for home use.  What more, if I go away by car somewhere where bulk and ear protection is not a concern, I can take the Grado's with me and have great sound away.

Tho I asked Brad to make the longest cord he offers (I think) at 4.5 meter (about 15 feet)...I was gnawing at my decision thinking they would be too heavy overall.  As it turns out, Brad's 15' cord is less bulky and about the same weight as stock Grado 7' cable was...so I've given nothing up (but $200+ - ha!) to get a reference quality phones with cable light enough to take with me and long enough for home use.

Brad's work is very good, too.  Unlike the Sennheisers, he has to pry open the Grado's to do the wire mods....there is no evidence whatsoever that these phones have been cracked open.  The workmanship is really very, very, commendable.

I'm not headphone listener per se...I still like listening thru speakers more.....but my daughters room is next door and she is sleeping by 8 PM.  So, I happily now confine myself to listeing at night while on 'puter to Grado SR-60 a la Revelation Audio Labs.  The Ellis Marsalis Trio's 'Twelves It' is sounding might sweet tonite   :)

Despite the many cable I now own made by RAL (2 power cords, 2 umbilicals, one custom digital and an IC) I still remain mildly skeptical of wiring 'upgrades'.  But, I simply cannot deny that every time I've bought an RAL wire item, it has bettered/bested what I had previously.  They should, they are not cheap by my standards, but they have each time so I close my eyes to my innate skepticism and enjoy the music and completely forget what I paid for them. I equate everything to dollars and sense value and feel very comfortable each time with my choice in Revelation Audio Labs.

Here is an unsolicited testimonial from another of our customers:

"I'm so very appreciate of your headphone cable. Words cannot adequately express it. I have been on the upgrade path all year, replacing power cables, interconnects, headphone amp, and power filter. I'm also using Extreme SST and Auric Illuminator (on CD's). But all along the upgrade path, even though each step brought improvement, there was an openness and clarity I instinctively knew should be there but couldn't get to it. So now I have it. Your headphone cable was the key, and I figure it will keep getting better, if that's possible. So thanks again. It's the best $200 I've ever spent! You don't need to reply. I just wanted to express my appreciation again."

Sincerely, J.C.

Yet another user testimonial on our headphone cable - mind you, this is after the very first night he received his brand new cable, so it was not even fully broken in yet:

"I had my final listen (with the new headphone cable) tonight...it was like a miracle. Into the 3rd song, this CD that I had last heard about 6 months ago sounded like new music. I could hear completely inside of the music and, for the first time, realized how talented are the recording engineers to put all that variety of sound together to make a beautiful orchestration (I listen to contemporary jazz). God's hand is on you, my friend. I am humbled at experiencing the results of your talent. Most sincerely, Jay"

Keep those cards and letters coming...

Don't get all swell-headed over it, Brad  - but the mod really does make my Grado SR-60 simply terrrific to use now.

I've accumulated five CD walkman (a JVC, Aiwa, Sony and two Kenwoods) in my years, and for the first time, can clearly differentiate each one's attributes and misses....whereas previously they all soundly broadly similar.  The inherent noise level in each, how they produce bass, if they are rolled off, etc are all quite clearly portrayed now.  It also helps re-confirm how lousy my Sony DVP-S7700 headphone out put is...even after a $100.000 worth of Empirical Audio mods to it 2 years ago  :(

I don't know how it stacks up to other $250.00 headphones out there (Grado is $69 + $200 headphone mod)...but the combination of it's light weight, compactness, high sensitivity, 1/8" plug and sound quality/detail extraction...makes for another very nice Revelation Audio product/mod from you. I'm pleased once again at your work  :)

Well, what can we say - feedback from the field keeps flowing in - here is the latest review, just in:

"I’m no expert when it comes to evaluating various audio products, but I’ve been an audiophile for at least 20 years and have gone through a lot of equipment, cables, tubes, etc. This year, I have been on the upgrade path again, having replaced interconnects, power cables, headphones (HD650), headphone amp, tubes, and power filter. Walker Audio Extreme SST contact enhancer and Auric Illuminator cd treatment have also been added to my upgrade process. All of these upgrades made an impressive difference to me, making the music more involving and enjoyable. I even use a 9” square powered subwoofer in my lap, turned up so very slightly, to compliment the headphones. Sure does make it all more real!

"At certain points along the upgrade path, I had ask myself if I was some sort of addict, buying first this and then that to satisfy my cravings for some imaginable sound that I wondered if even existed. After buying all the above, I still felt unsatisfied. That sense of space, preciseness, detail, and overall pleasantness just wasn’t quite there. One thing I hadn’t replaced this year was my headphone cable. I had been using the copper Cardas for about 4 years and consider it to be a good cable, at least for copper. Experience with silver speaker cables and interconnects convinced me though that silver is clearly a superior sound conductor. And I’m also familiar with the sonic benefits of cryogenic treatment. I had read the reviews and stats on available headphone cables but none of them impressed me enough to take the plunge and buy one. The Stephan Audio Art cable gets good reviews but since it is copper, I knew it had limits that I didn’t want to pay for. Plus, it’s not cryo treated, you must wait 3 to 4 months to get one, and I’m not the most patient audiophile.

"I look at Audiogon most every day (the headphone section) to see what’s being offered. Then one day about 6 weeks ago I saw the ad for the Revelation Audio Labs headphone cable. What immediately impressed me was that it is cryogenically treated (deeply frozen for a time) and that it is silver. I had visited the Revelation Audio Labs website before and drooled over the wonderful silver interconnects and power cables they make, all cryo treated. I immediately ordered the cable and had it in hand in about 2 weeks. Brad hooks the cables to the audiodharma Cable Cooker 2.5 Pro to get them on the road to burn-in but I hooked mine up in a spare bedroom for 50 hours before critical listening. When I finally sat down and put on the first CD, I felt as though I was treading on ground that I shouldn’t be on. The sound was so jaw-dropping good that I felt guilty for hearing it. Well, I got over that quickly. I have read that silver needs 100 hours or more break-in time and I think Brad at Revelation Audio Labs suggests even more. With that said, the sound at 50 hours was astounding. Of course, I must give some of the credit to my equipment, but the Revelation Audio Labs cable is a cable that gets out of the way, rather than adding or subtracting anything. It lets the vibrancy and the feeling of the music come through more. Of course, it excels in spaciousness, detail, a sense of drama, bass, imaging, and every aspect of the audio experience. It seems to me that a good system will help deliver the sound intended by the musicians and recording engineers. That’s what the Revelation Audio Labs cable does for me and I no longer feel that something is missing. If you’re thinking about buying it, I suggest you take the plunge. After all, it comes with a 30-day return privilege. How can you beat that!"
