Sig 30 with Gallo Reference 3.1's Redux
« on: 31 Jul 2006, 01:24 am »
I'm very interested in pairing the Sig 30 with Gallo Reference 3.1's.  Since the last thread on this, Srajan has finished in review in 6 moons, where he recommends adding a pre to power the Ref 3's.  I'm not interested in this, as I want to simplify.  I listen in a fairly small room (15x14, with 7' ceiling), usually at 75 to 80 db.

Is anyone else wrestling with this pairing.  I'd love others opinions.  I know I can return the amp, but I'd like to be pretty sure before I buy.

Thanks in advance

Rich

Hi Rich,

Welcome to Audiocircle and the RWA forum!

I have heard the Signature 30 with Gallo Ref 3s.  We connected the source (a Wadia CDP) directly to the Signature 30 (no active preamp in the system) and did not have the desire to add one.  This combo worked out very well and I myself do not use a preamp.  I connect my source (a battery modified Olive Symphony) directly to my Signature 30 (with a very short pair of interconnects).

As long as you like the sound of your source, I believe you'll love feeding it directly into the Sig 30 to power your Gallos. 8)

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Best regards,

Vinnie

Congratulations Vinnie on your Signature 30!. I am interested in your experiences with the Gallo 3.1. (88dB speaker) Where you able to drive this full range speaker to reasonably loud levels especially with the extremes of dynamic classical music? Is there enough headroom? Thanks.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to Audiocircle and the RWA forum!

Yes, the Signature 30 was able to drive the Gallo's to reasonably loud levels with very dynamic music.  The Sig 30 / Gallo 3.1 pairing is most impressive  8)
