upgrading parts
« on: 27 Jul 2006, 05:57 pm »
Hi guys,

Instead of keep pestering Hugh thought I'd post on here, hope you don't mind Hugh:)

I recently brought a couple of AkSA modules second hand which was built from a kit.
I've been wanting to listen to one of these amps for a while and I'm looking forward getting them up and running.

Anyway I'm ordering a few new caps/bits and wondered if anybody could comment if I've made the right choice, these are for both modules

I have deleted this significant IP and responded privately to Multibit - Hugh

I have several other diy amps so it will be nice to see how these compare.

Cheers,

Leo

Finally had chance to have a good listen to my Aksa's.
First thanks to Hugh for all the advice and sorry about the above post   I've tried out quite a lot of different components in various places until I got the best results I could.

After 2 days of burning in my first impressions are not bad at all, it drives my IPL S3tlm Ribbon speakers more than loud enough in my room.
I'll give it a few more days burn in but it already sounds quite good already.

My other amps are
Highly Modded WAD KIT88 tube amp using NOS GEC KT88 and custom wound Sowter output transformers.
Modified Hypex UCD180
AvondaleNCC200 with CAP6 psu and dual toroidals
A few different chipamp designs (LM3875,LM3886)  currently working on one using OPA541
Pavels Mosfet power follower
Little Amp6 Tripath based from 41hz
Currently building a P3A

I still need to find some decent cases :)
