Hey Bill,

Have been away for 3 days.....forty two 10 minute meetings (odd, but effective conference...like 'speed' dating, only between retailers and prospective vendors in my business)  in 2.5 days fries my limited resources to logon to Audio Circle dutifully.

Not sure what info you're looking for....due to my time constrains of late, I don't think I turned my stereo on for at least a week.  The modded MMG's sounded great last time I remember.  They lack a nice, tight, juicy bottom end of a dynamic/cone speaker....but do the rest quite nicely.  Detail is magnificant - like wearing headphones.

I should take pics of the outboard crossovers...they are pretty is a rather stealthy/unobtrusive way.

What relationship to Klaus/Odyssey and Vinnie/Red Wine Audio are you speaking of?  I've bought and spoke to Klaus a couple times now in total, yet only spoken and PM'ed Vinnie - not bought directly from him (I'm near certain that will change one day)

I hacve been kicking tires with amps and I believe you run Klauses amps.
You also had mentioned having a sig 30.
I am curious about the evolution of amp/pre choice for the maggies.

Hey Bill,

I do have Khartago Extreme Hyper Overkill Superlative Mono's  (I don't know what version, they are new and Klaus said they were second only to full blown Odyssey Stratos Mono's in his line - his word is good enough for me).  They are incredible overkill for my 12 x 15' room.....but always pleasant sounding, never tiresome.  They are the previous Khartago stero unit owned are the only Solid State units I've owned that don't make me weary listening to music all day long. Truly.

I've enjoyed my time with TEAC and JVC 'digital' units here....so member 'ndpjr', who owns a Signature 30, sent me his hyper modded TEAC (battery driven) w/Mundorf caps to listen to.  Unfortunately, we're not sure if the batteries drain to fast playing the Maggies, or the charger is slightly defective, but there are some issues in playing it.  It may well be that 30 battery fed watts are simply not enough to drive fairly ineffeicent Maggies, even the little MMG's that I have.

The the TEAC produced a cleaner/more pristine sound with tighter control of the bottom end (appreciated on often willowy sounding  ribbon bottom ends), overall I thinkI prefer my Khartago's.  They just sound meaner, more lively, grittier to me.......really, it's subjective more than anything else.  The TEAC is never tiring tho...kudo's for that alone.

Both are paired with a Dynaco PAS-4 (tube) preamp ran from a BPT power conditioner.  I find that preamp peerless for what I paid for it.

I think I'm going to move this to Two Channel as it seems rather too specific for Audio Central to me.
