Buy

1. A good oven
2. A gas range
3. A good modern dishwasher
4. Two good baking trays (eg Corningware)
5. A steamer pan thingy
6. 2-3 sharp knives (eg Global etc). One cooking, one boning, one utility. If you're clumsy, skip this step.

Dinner Recipe

1. One chicken. If it's pre-marinated and split, even better.
2. Put onto baking tray. Add small potatoes. Drizzle olive oil everywhere. Put in oven.
3. Wait.
4. Cut veg and put in steamer. Buy whatever's in season (carrots are about US50c/pound here right now)
5. Wait.
6. Cut and Eat.
7. Put all leftovers in baking tray. Put in fridge. (That's why you need two baking trays...)

To improve your vitamin and fiber intake

1. Buy fruit. (Whatever is in season. Pineapples and strawberries are very cheap here right now.)
2. Cut fruit.
3. Put fruit in alcoholic beverage.
4. Drink.

After eating/drinking, put everything in dishwasher. Press ON button.

Let's hear yours

#1 rule is regardless of what is eaten, the plate, which should be paper, is either thrown away or if that is not an option, put into the dishwasher as is.  Absolutely no scrubbing or dish soap is allowed.  That's what they made the damn things for anyway, so use em as they were meant to be used!

#2 rule, always have cell phone close by in order to speed up delivery process.

Not really cokking related, but #1 bachelor pad friendly tool is the romba.  I haven't pushed a vacumn cleaner in over 9 months

My next purchase is the scooba for the kitchen floor...that is the most laborious nansty job ever created.

John,

You only mention chicken.  How is Emu?  I am seeing it being offered in gourmet markets around here.  It is suppose to be a red meat that has less fat than beef.  Have you tried any?

BTW,  you did not list blender/mixer on your buy list.  It's must for frozen cocktails if you are going to impress any hotties you bring over.... :)

1.  Pizza delivery.
2.  Keg a rator.  No feakin returns.
3.  When you cook, cook a bunch so you have lunch and the next days supper.
4.  Buy a spice rack and use it.  chopped garlic in a jar is a must.

Buy 36 chix legs.  Grill reeeeeeaaal slow.  after the 6 pack is gone add BBQ sauce and eat.

Cook 3#'s of taco meat.  tacos one night, nachos the next, etc.

If you can plan ahead marinade your meat for 24 hours, it's worth it!

Fresh veggies are best.  Use steamer as above.  Add butter, garlic and salt when no one is looking.

Rice/ noodle packet things are good if you need three things to eat.

Don't eat out....drink more beer aa

I have much more refined tastes and I still like hotdogs -- regardless of what's in 'em.  I plan on making corn dogs soon from an Alton Brown recipe.

Bob,

Are you close to these guys -- the second one in CT?  http://www.epicurious.com/restaurants/best_eats/hotdogs
I am visiting a friend in Monroe next month.  I am going to try one these.

I remember my basic Sunday dinner recipe during my college days (sorry, not Cornell but Lehigh) when the fraternity cook was off.

1 nice steak
marinated mushrooms in a can (for the steak)
1 baked potato
1 packet of broccoli and cheese
beer

I think my Sunday in the frat kitchen lasted all of 2 weeks until some of the other guys caught on and started following my recipe. It got too crowded and I was back at Wendy's for a "triple" again.

Does anyone else know what a "greeker" is? (basically a hot dog with chili and melted cheese). Disgusting things that could only be eaten at the end of a night of frat parties.  :green:

Enjoy,
Bob
