iRIAA to Burn in Step Up Transformers

OK, so I've got my MM phono stage connected & burning.  Can this be used also on stand alone step ups to burn/condition/flush/form them as well? There was a posting on Audiogon stating this may be possible.....What is the correct way to set this up?  I just received a step up that looks like it was never used.  I would like to both test it and burn it in as well.  The problem presently is I do not have a low output cart and the step up is 30+db.  Any way to test this with out a cartridge or scope?  Thanks for the input.... Moving magnet guy.

I like to burn in stepups at line level, not using the iRIAA filter.  With the phono disconnected!  I run over night on a FryKleaner, then short the outputs of the two channels together using a female to female RCA adapter (from FryBaby), and burn another night or two.

Most stepups I know of can handle the line level signal.  Check the specs of yours, to see if they do.  Otherwise, the iRIAA filter is needed.
