Fostex and Foster's on July 15th
« on: 7 Jul 2006, 01:26 pm »
Hey guys,
marktwain is bringing his Fostex horns down to meet my Abbys next Saturday.  We'll be using the "RED" system (Yamamoto 300B amp, Yamamoto CA-4 preamp and new Droplet CD player) and downing a few brews. Anybody free that evening? I can't match Tim's curry or gifts, but I'll think of something to entice you besides single ended amps and single drivers. :)

Excellent.   :guitar:
more than willing, but not quite sure about clearance yet.  Any idea what time you're considering starting?

Yo Blackmore,

Ya think we can slide your AES preamp and 2a3 amp in there for awhile too? If you can pry em from the clutches of my hands! I really don't want to give em back ya know. I'll bring my new nos dac down also I think it is broke in now with around 800 hours on it, takes a while to get them blackgates broke in ya know. I probably have 800 hours or better on the fostex fe166e's too so they should be settled in also. I think I'm gonna come down early and hit vintage vinyl before heading to Blackmore's if anyone wants to join me.

I have a rehearsal until 2:00 pm so I'm saying around 4 so I can get home and fire up the tubes.  We can certainly put the 2A3 back in the system and fire up any DAC you'd like.  The Droplet has a digital out and haven't tried it yet.  Could be some fun.  I'm already starting to clean up the place  :o so I hope we can get a few more guys to make the trip out west.

I've got clearance from " she who must be obeyed " . I can make it after work about 6pm if that is okay. Let me know if you need me to bring along anything, cables etc. Pm me with your address. Thanks.  :)

I'm sure glad it'll be 97 degrees tomorrow.  I'll have plenty of fluids for everybody coming to Fostex and Foster's night.   Oh, and shoot me if I ever again sponsor a summertime get-together and want to fire up the 2A3 and EL-34 amps.  We'll take an A/C break after each cd.  See you guys tomorrow afternoon and be sure to wear something cool. Call me when you get here so I can come down and let you in.

I'll bring along a window ac unit so if Sturg shows up with Willie's 845's we can set it right behind the amp.

See ya later,

I am out due to my work schedule, I will be here until after 7pm tonight so I miss out  again.
Hope everyone has fun tonight.
I sold my Onix Rocket 850s I was using for two channel the other day. Used the money for camera gear (talk about an expensive hobby ) so I am down to a simple setup of bookshelfs SB3 and int. tube amp. Not sure what direction I am wanting to head in but I am going to be doing some research the rest of the summer but that is for another thread.

Thanks for having us out last night.  Sorry I had to leave a bit early - I can't wait to hear what went on after I left.  Any more Fosters pics?

It was interesting to hear the differences between the Abbys and the Fostex spec'd cabinets.  And, the baby was sounding pretty sweet.

Also, please thank your wife for being such a gracious hostess and allowing us to redecorate a bit.
