Clari-T and AKG K1000
« on: 6 Jul 2006, 05:22 pm »
Hi guys,

Did anyone heard this setup? How different is it from using the K1000s from a good solid-state, or tube amp? Did you notice any loss in "weight of instruments"?  What features or sound characteristics the source should have to nicely match this system?

Thanks for any feedback/comments!

Hi geovorg,

I have a few customers who purchased Clari-T-Amps for use with their K1000s and are very satisfied with this combo.  I recommend a source that is a little on the warm side because the Clari-T / K1000 combo is very detailed, resolving, and FAST and a CDP or external dac that is on the warmer side seems to achieve a very nice tonal balance.

Also, Srajan of 6moons recently released his review of the new Signature 30.  He mentioned powering his K1000s with it:

Quote from: Srajan
For the now discontinued AKG K-1000 earspeakers, the Signature 30 shares the stage with the FirstWatt F1 current-source amp as an ideal partner. The latter's otherworldly control in this context is ultimately more resolved and accurate and would thus be the choice for a recording engineer. The 30 is warmer and slightly mellower to perfectly suit endless pleasure listening sessions.

Sincerely,

Vinnie
