Stone Temple Pilots at #13 seems way high, and the Clash at #53 seems way low...

And odd to see the Dixie Chicks on a list for ROCK bands...???

I'd have ranked them a bit differently:

1) BEATLES (could it be any other way?)
2) LED Zepplin
3) Moody Blues
4) Jethro Tull
5) Rolling Stones
6) Emerson Lake and Palmer
7) Crosby Stills and Nash
8) King Crimson
9) Eagles
10) The Who
11) Beach Boys
12) Jimi Hendricks
13) Cream/Derek and the Dominos/Blind Faith
14) Yes
15) Allman Brothers Band

***How could I have left out the DOORS.  Somehow they need to be in my top 10.

TC I know, who is Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes? Isaac Hayes and the Movement? The O'Jays?

Absolutely!  If there were any justice in this world they wouldn't be on the list.

Hey!

Interesting list. Reminded me of VH1 special of Top 100 Greatest Rock Albums or something like that :D Hmmm... I forgot what was the number one album on that show

But... you know what? That list and other like it are pretty much useless and pointless if you ask me.

Music is art and everybody have thier own favorites and thier own top list... just listen and enjoy what every bands/artist you like! Who cares of what other people think!

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

My problem is I would have like 15-20 in the top ten

The Police over The Doors? Kiss my ass.

Creedence Clearwater Revival is disgustingly low on the list. Also Black Sabbath is too. Black Sabbath may not be THE greatest band but influential points are off the charts, they started the heavy rock. Primus over them????????? No one even listens to Primus even though they are awsome.

The bands that are not even rock bands?

Yeah poorly put together if you ask me.

C'mon, Josh- I expect more from you!  Whether you like the Beatles or not, I don't think anyone, who is looking back at rock music from a truly objective/historical point of view, can deny the influence they have had on music.

One of their criteria is Random Play.  In this category, I personally would give Led Zep, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, the Eagles, and Metallica a one, as these bands were overplayed to the extent I can no longer listen to them.  When they come on my iPod, I immediately search for another song (and the only reason they're there is because of the wife).
