Sturgus since you volunteered to be the first in line for the 845 SE Monoblock tour, I thought I might bring them along with me to Electricbears's this Saturday and we can exchange them there, if thats OK!

Hey Sturgus,

Do you still have the 845 SE Monoblocks?  Give me a call so I can come by and have a listen.

Ron, I will try and  touch base with you on Thur. As far as the sound of the amps all I can say is I wish I had a speaker that could do justice to them. My Merlins just require a little More power than the have to give. I will have to say when not driving them too hard the sound is glorious. The midrange of this amp is hard to describe other than the voices and instruments sound real. They really get the air and space between the notes right. They also give the sense of the background being black, and sounds just come from nothing. I will play around a little more and then pass them on to the next fortunate soul. Willie who gets them next?

Ok guys, Give Sturgus a few more days with them. I think like a couple of weeks or so per visit should be OK.
Mark are you ready yet ? DeadFish, one of you guys get in touch with Sturgus to make the transfer.
Sturgus, whichever one makes contact first is next up, just let me know who.
     Have fun guys!

Hey Sturg,

I could pick up the amps Saturday ifin your goin to Blackmores. Unless your wanting more time with them of course. Ya know what though I'm returning Blackmores 2a3 and matching pre so I wont have a preamp to use with Willie's amp so I guess I'm sol then. :( Maybe Chris would let borrow his new pre.

how I wish I could do that.  Haven't quite yet taken delivery of the new Chameleon but am anxious.

I had a chance to listen to the 845's at Sturgus' and can't blame you for wanting to take them back for awhile.  So very different and oh so tempting.  They are sweet and easy.  I think Sturg may be scratching his head looking for a high eff spkr after that experience.   I know I am.

Very impressive Willie!  I'm glad you're local. :green:

I have a little 12AX7A pre with tone controls I can pass along with the 845 amps if you need one.
The amps do have volume controls so if your speakers are sensitive enough and don't need the extra
drive, then no pre is needed. Let me know if you need a pre.

 MerRev
Don't worry about a pre I can let you use that one when you turn comes around. Hi Eff speakers are really
nice and you can really hear some alive and sweet stuff in SET's. But not totally nessessary, my 89db JBL
L112's sound pretty good too just not ear-bleed loud!
   real good

Cool Willie,

I didn't know the amps had volume controls, I'm good to go then.

Willie, did you get my second pm on my set amp?

I'm in no rush, so y'all listen when you get a chance. If there ends up a hole in the 'action', whoever's got the amps lemme know so I can have a listen.
Breaking in new caps on the Bolero's, but the 19's are always ready!

Yer a sport, Willie! Looking forward to 'em!

As much as I hate to do this I have to give up Willie's amps to the next in line . I know Steve was trying to get a few guys over for a session this Fri. I could bring the amps with me and hand them off. Who ever gets them will have a hard time giving them up. Willie how do you manage to come up with such gems?
If some one would like to get them before Fri. just let me know I am off Wed. an Thur. also.

Mark,
You're certainly welcome to drop by Friday, if you want to pick up Willie's amps. A few of us were just going to listen to the Mapletree preamp I built. I'll have a bigger GAS to-do in August with the Nomad speakers.

Willie,
From what Sturg told me, your 845's put out some eerily realistic midrange. He was mightily impressed. Last I heard, he was looking for some high efficiency full rangers.  Unfortunately, I'm not sure my mags would do them justice, but maybe the Insignias?

Thanks for the invite Steve but I don't think I'll be able to make it Friday since I came down last weekend. Geeze I wish I lived closer. I'll step back and let someone else enjoy Willie's amps. Maybe I can get em sometime in August.

I'll be at Steve's on Friday night.  My Abbys would probably like some 845 power.  Do you think my Jetta has enough horsepower to get Willie's amps home??????

Hopefully we can still do this Friday night. I lost power in the storm last night and who knows how long it will be out. Most of my area is out of power. Luckily we have power at work so I can get my email. Mark, PM me your phone number so I can call you Friday when I know about power. We have a 90 ft high tree (the one with the treehouse in it) leaning toward our house now so we're bailing to a friends house at least until we get power back and get through the storms today. Sturg, I'll give you a call too. Film at 10.

Fun and games in St. Louie!

We're out too. Luckily I have a generator so we were able to at least have some fans last night and save whats in the fridge.

The thermometer in my car has read 101+ at the hottest time of the day for the past three days. Top that off with the forecast of 104 today and lets just say it's farging HOT around here

Fortunately the weather is supposed to break in time for the Hagar concert Saturday at Riverport

The party is off for tonight. We're still out of power and Ameren is saying 3-5 days now. We're staying with a friend who has power and hopefully getting back to the house today if it cools off enough. This is nasty.

My surge protector on all my sources took a hit in the storm and my amps were plugged into the wall so I don't even know if my system works till we get power back.   :o

Right now, we're just trying to stay cool and make do.
