Bugle P/S heat sink question.
« on: 25 Jun 2006, 11:01 pm »
I have a couple of questions concerning the regulators/ heat sinks for the bugle P/S. Which hole should I connect the regulators to on the sinks? If I connect them to the top hole, the legs of the reg. barely go into the holes on the board. If I use the washers under the sinks, the legs won't reach into the board. If I connect them to the middle hole, some of the body of the reg. sticks out under the notch in the sink. The heat sinks that I have, which have the correct number on the package from Digikey (HS 191) are 1.5 inches tall. They appear noticeably taller than the ones in the picture of the P/S on the front of the manual. Also, do I use some compound when I mount the reg's. to the sinks, and should I use insulators between the reg's. and the sinks?

Bottom hole is ok.  There's not much heat in this design.  No need for goop.  In fact, it will probably run ok without heat sinks.

OK, thanks! I went ahead and elongated the top hole slightly to bring the reg's. down and just bolted 'em up w/o any goop.
