Well I did it. The CJ unit has found a new home. The deal from my dealer was just too good to pass up. It really wasn't that hard of a decision, especially since having the pre on demo loan for nearly a week. I was simply floored by how musical this piece is. Everything just took on a whole new dimension musically. I know I will be satisfied for quite some time now. My next move will be a CD player or maybe a DAC. What do you guys suggest? Budget around $1200. Thanks

Rega Apollo is claimed to outperform the Jupiter for $995. The new Rega Saturn is supposedly now shipping, but I don't know a price.

With that kind of a preamp, you may have underbudgeted for your source.  If you are interested in tube CDPs, i would suggest the hanling T-80 or something in the Consonance line.  I don't know their availability or price in the US, but they are in yor range.  Consonance makes Dacs without digital filters a lot cheaer than Audio Note.  You might also look at one of the new Audio Note DAC kits.  For oversampling DACs in your price range, or a bit more, I like Quad 99and Naim 5i.   The Shanling T80 outscored tham in a recent comparison in one of the UK hifi mags.  If you want to see a picture, go to www.noteworthyaudio.co.uk.

Get a modded Olive CDP/HD or Squeeze Box with extra hard drive for that price.
