1)  How do I clear out (reset) the new music category?
2)  How do I get the SlimServer to detect new music?

Thanks, John

It uses the last modified date of the files to display "new" music. I don't think you can change this.

If you click the "server settings" link and then "plugins" you will see a section for "rescan music library". I believe this is off by default. If you enable it, the disks will be rescanned at the specified time and any new music added to the library.

You are correct, the rescan option was turned off.   My new music category has been static for quite a while, and the CDs from my last ripping session can not be found.  What a stupid default setting.

While searching thru the server settings, I did find a rescan option.  There is a "look for new and changed music option", "clear library and rescan everything", and "rescan playlists" options.  This should be on the home page IMHO.  I select the first option, and cleared out old stuff from new music, and added all of the new stuff!

Thanks Much!  I had been looking in the help system and could not find it!  And I never would have thought to look in plug ins!

That is not the only way to rescan your library.  That is a nice automated way to scan it.

The primary scan library button is on the first page of the server settings at the very bottom called rescan library.  If you aren't going to be adding music that often it may work out better to turn off the automated plugin that scans daily and just manually kick off a scan when you need.  Why scan daily when you only change stuff once a month?  That is why the automatic plugin defaults to off.
