Help with Bugle parts backorder....
« on: 13 Jun 2006, 11:45 pm »
Dear Folks,

Digi-key has the "IC DUAL AUDIO OPAMP 8-DIP"  part# OPA2134PA on back order...I need three of them to build a bugle.  Where else can I get them?  Anyone have a part number?

Thanks,

Ken

DigiKey indicates they expected a shipment in yesterday.  I'd hold off for a few days.  They're likely to be in at any moment.

Jim,

Are you sure?  I've had my order holding for the OPA2134PA opamp too.  Today it went from a ship date of 6/12 to 8/11!!!!  That's 2 more months.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi folks,

Ok, so what do we all think?  I know that it is only a $150 pre-amp but I don't want to settle in the way of Op-amps...

Jim says, "Ok, the OPA2132PA is the next best thing. "

Is there something better with out spending a lot more??  I would rather spend a little more and go UP than go down.

I also don't want to wait 2 months to listen to my newly purchased vinyl.  I know that I will freak out if I get everything except the op-amps.

I don't have a phono pre-amp.

Thanks,

Ken

UP for a few dollars

I am using OPA2134 at the stage U1 & U2 and Burr Brown OPA 2604 at U3.

I want to try Burr Brown OPA 2228  or 2227 as someone has said they have a tubelike quality but loose nothing in solid state bottom.

The 2604 is smooth and the preamp itself is detailed and is a big improvement over my previous so I am very happy with the 2604 shmoozy sound.

I don't detail to become too sharp so I think in keeping with smoothness my next logical step would be the 2228.

The Burr Brown OPA 2132 sound to be the solid-state-similar-sounding other-side-of-the-coin of the 2228.

You could buy a few of these for the output slot and swap till you find you 'favorite'. And if you change othercomponents you have them on hand to match with whatever soncic differences take place.

For about $100 more you can try 2 Burr Brown OPA 627 BP on Browndog adaptor but that might be really a future upgrade given budget considerations. They are single opamps so you need two and an adapter to get them both onto the slot you have on the Bugle.

Mouser shows them on backorder until 7/14.  You would also have to add $5 if you don't spend $25.  Better off spending a few more dollars on the OPA2132 if you've already got an order with Digikey.

Ok, so I got the correct ones (OPA2134PA) from www.partsconnexion.com for cheap, kinda.  Like $2.95 but I need 3 and I don't need anything else so I have to pay a $5 surcharge for orders under $25.00.  Then shipping, 7-10 days from canada to boston....Oh, well.  At least I can start building my amp...All I need is a turntable and to clean my records..... HAHAHAHAhehehehe.

Thanks to everyone for your HELP!
