Helping a buddy out, 10" replacement woofers
« on: 9 Jun 2006, 08:12 pm »
A buddy has a set of older Infiniti floor standers.

The cones are shot on all 4 10" woofers in the 2 boxes.

He has looked into replacement kits but I told him to check out replacing the drivers themselves.

I am not sure of the model, contains 2 10" woofers, a 5 1/4 inch midrange and a small tweeter.

Just looking for some suggestions of a decent but inexspensive replacement woofer.

Around $50-60 per.

Thanks

I had a old pair of Jensen 3 ways with woofer rot.

Did not want to drop a lot of $$$ into fixing them so picked up replacement woofers at radio shack.

Don't see them on their web site, might have them instore.

Well within your budget

There's a huge difference between woofers. Unless the voice coils are destroyed I'd just repair the speakers so that the woofers will match the system they were designed for. You could ruin the sound easily with just some woofer put in there.

Don't swap woofers unless they are bad which is unlikely.  Sometimes you can find Infinity drivers on Ebay.
