I am looking for the best musicality of floorstanders that can be driven by low watt or single-ended amplifiers or high sensitivity floorstanders including DIY speakers. Your opinions and suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated.

You did not mention a budget, so I can only assume (since you are interested in DIY) that you are looking for the most bang for the buck. I heard the Bastani's at the recent NY audio show and was very impressed by their full range and well rounded sound. I have also heard and liked the AN/E speaker kit which is amazing for its size and very musically engaging, although will probably not produce huge sound with a 2A3 (97dB efficient). Commercially, there are Beauhorns and Lamhorns on the used market for 3.5 - 8K which are very nice sounding and 100+ dB efficient. All-in-all my vote would be for the kit version of the AN/E if musicality is your priority.

Good luck!

I've built a few custom designs as kits and can do that for you. Drop me an email with your budget and desired specs / cabinet size.

Hi Rick,

Do you still make the Carnelian floorstanders? I saw in the Gallery in your website. What is the sensitivity and the dimensions? What kind of woofers and tweeters are you using? Please send the price too. Thanks.

Yes, we can still make the Carnelian. The cabinet is 38" x 11" x 14" and sensitivity 85db. The woofer is a Seas W22EX001 and Fountek ribbon tweeter. $4,000 / pair including shipping.

HI Rick,

Do you have any floorstanders within $500-$1000? Since I have a tight budget right now I could not afford any speakers cost more than 1K. Thanks for help and understanding.

If you look at the 35F http://www.selahaudio.com/id114.html the same cabinet can be configured for a 2-way design. The cost with shipping would run $800-$1,000 depending on what drivers you want to use.

I would go with the RC3R kit. http://www.selahaudio.com/id15.html
Not sure how much power your tube amp is capable of, but I have used a 35w tube amp with the RC3R.  I made the speaker into a floorstander.

I built both the Carnelian and the RC3R, prefered the SS8545 for bass.

Another option, SA-1 monitor and Whomp sub in kit, very good full range combo :!:

Hi Mark,

I have a parallel 2A3 amplifier. Therefore, I need high sensitive speakers. It sounds like the RA1 and RC3R having only 85 or 86 dB. Anyway thanks for your information.
