Guy's I would like to offer you guys who live within 50 miles of St Louis, a chance to try out my Low Power 845 Single-end monoblock amps.
Maybe have the amps do a tour of the area, say a one week stay then move on to another place. If 4 or 5 people would like try it then they can arrange the amps travel between try outs and no shipping charges.
So the amps are about 8 to 10 watts with 8ohm outputs. They are EF86 pentode RC coupled to a choke loaded VT-52 thats RC coupled to a 845 SE parafeed 8ohm outputs
The 845's run at about 630volts on the plates and the bias is adjustable
to run between 60 and 100 ma. I run them at 80ma. These amps have ran with no problem for the last 4 years, so they should be easy to operate.
You should have speakers that are at least 89db/1watt for decent sound and the higher the efficency the better.  Anyway I'm looking for 4 to 7 interested Tube-a-maniacs that want to hear an 845 or to compare tnis one to yours.

As much as I would love to hear these on my setup, I really don't have a pre that would do them much justice other than the Bottlehead. I guess I am going to have to wait and sneak over to Bill's and catch a listen. I hope he has some speakers

looks interesting Willie! :D

after hearing the Locomotive I can't wait to check out another one of your designs.  I told Sturgus to expect company once it makes it over to his house.  By the way, did the PP45 with the Dukane multi-channel mixer front facia sell to someone relatively local?

Hi Guys
So it looks like about 4 takers so far. JC that Bolltehead Foreplay would be just fine with these amps.
Sturgus I think I'd like to drop by and them on your Merlins too!
The other PP45 amp went to someone out of state, if I remember correctly.
I'll wait another few days to give others a chance to decide if they want to try the amps, before we make up the tour schedule. We should be able to start near the last of June, before the 4th. I'm really excited about getting these out to other GASser's.

   Have fun!

By all means Jamie, come on!

Actually, I've managed two high efficiency rigs now that should show off those amps.

Recently when we had our musical tour of St. Louis, I found a pair of Altec Lansing Bolero 'bookshelf' speakers in less-than perfect running condition.  Once I replaced the speaker connectors they have sounded *real* good with any amp I threw at them, especially my formerly 'humming-bastard' 300B amp.  Willie worked some magic on it and in spite of a little hum, it is getting delicious.  Haven't even made it upstairs to the 19's yet.  I'm really impressed with how big a sound they put out in the 13' square living room.

By all means, you need to come have a listen.
(as well as anyone else out there wanting one)
The Squeezebox is sounding grand.

Best,
DF

What did you do with your Odyssy speakers? You are starting to gather too much gear!
I just got the Conrad Johnson D/A 2b hooked up to one of the squeeze boxes and it is feeding an onix branded melody tube int (50w+50w) and I must say it is sounding sooooo smooth. I think I lost a little on the bottom end in the way of tightness but it is too early to tell for sure. Right now I am enjoying the love of music!
Amos Lee is amazing

One more thing I really really need a DAC.
How important is food again?
