I have FANTASTIC news from my OEM!!!

Here are the parameters of the prototype driver (plug them in to your favorite subwoofer simulation software and compare them with ANY driver on the market! ;))

Fs = 14.5Hz
Qts = 0.42
Qes = 0.52
Qms = 2.14
Vas = 926.7 liters
Mms = 232.7g
Re= 4.5ohms
Le = 1.56mH
SPL = 89.2dB
Res = 40.9ohms
Rp = 18.3ohms
Rms = 9.9Kg/s
Cms = 0.51mm/N
Cp = 1487.2uF

Saved the best for last…

Xmax = 35mm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sd = 1123.3 cm^2
Displaced volume = 7.864 LITERS OF AIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep in mind all these are preliminary and maybe I’m jumping the gun a bit as the parameters may change a bit. But this is the driver we’re working on. Amazing stuff!!

As soon as I get the prototypes, I’ll put them in a MONTH-long burn-in in a lab and a real world environment (club, disco, etc.).
Only after reliability of at least 10 samples has been proven, this will be offered for sale.

You have no idea how excited I am! This is absolutely amazing. My OEM have been working solid on this and have delivered BIG TIME!

This is it, ladies and gentlemen, I’m awaiting for your inputs, comments, criticisms, suggestions, etc. etc.

Thanks,

Andreas

Hi Andricos,

Of course, if you used a vented box the excursion would be only 10cm, a commonly achievable figure. :D

A vented system produces 9dB more acoustic output for a given speaker size or the speaker driver can be only 0.6 the size for the same output. Look at the reduced LF cone excursion of the B6 active filter bass augmented type. Cleaner bass! :wink:

Best I can manage - never been able to post a pic here! :roll:
Cheers,
Greg

    No offense, AG but in my lowly opinion, vented bass sucks.
    Have you ever heard IB Bass?
    It is unsurpassed in quality both objective and subjective...

    Thanks lonewolfney42,

    It just doesn't work for me. :evil:

    Hi Andrikos,

    Yes the Earth is flat and we wouldn't have it any other way, would we? I could respond with a mirror suggestion but...  :mrgreen:

    Let me guess, you love the distorted bass, the resonant oversize boxes, the room modes.... horses for courses.

    Cheers,
    Greg

    AG,
    I know all about vented designs.
    As is evident from reading my thread, you know nothing about IBs since you've been recommending using ports (???) with them...
    Perhaps you're the flat Earther?
    There are tons of IBers in your wonderful country, find one and listen to it.

    I have tried to be polite but you keep crashing my thread.
    This is a discussion about IBs, you're invited to participate but please stop trolling my thread about the "virtues" of vented design.

    If that's all you want to do, please leave my thread and start your own and discuss 4th/6th order bandpass design with another "Guru":
    Dr Amare Bose.

    So Sorry, Andrikos!

    I was simply trying to detail some scientific reason to help you achieve more from less. You did mention -

    ...."Every single cent will be dedicated towards PERFORMANCE!"...

    Now I see It's about faith. IMO the greatest constraint to performance is IB. :)

    Cheers,
    Greg

    What's with the pissing contest on somebody elses thread? Good for you if you like ports... they just don't work in IB land. BTW, the only thing flat in IB land is the frequency response in room... at least to 10 Hz, possibly even further. You can keep your humps, bumps, farts and whatnot down under. The smooth, tight, sexy roll off of a large sealed box is a thing of beauty.

    I am thinking about implementing IB  into my room but the only practical position is at the rear wall of the 12 x 21.5 x 7.5 area. From what I've been able to learn about IB, rear wall install is the least desirable. I was thinking of 2 Dayton IB385-8 drivers and a 350 watt plate amp, but that's a good chunk 'o change for an experiment. Any input/experience with a rear wall implementation would be much appreciated.
