Hi Hugh,
It's Nick here (from Brockley, South London). It's taken me ages, but I've finally registered and would just like to say thanks to Hugh (for all his help) and everyone on the AKSA circle.

I've had the GK1 with phono and AKSA 55N+ running trouble free for over a year. The sound is simply wonderful - detailed but not fatiguing, they let me know about everything in the recording (transparent?) but somehow don't stop me from enjoying poor recordings (quite a lot of old punk/new wave etc).

Quite an achievement and I just want to say thanks for making such high quality hifi available to ordinary folks (and ultimately leaving more money to spend on music).

Thanks again !
Nick

Nick,

It's a pleasure, on behalf of all of us.......  thank you for your contributions!

You have lost 'Grumpy Git' and adopted 'Toride'!!  Any link with this?

Toride is a city located in Ibaraki, Japan.

As of March 15, 2005 (but including the increase due to the Fujushiro merger), the city has an estimated population of 113,475 and the density of 1622 persons per km². The total area is 69.96 km².

The city was founded on October 1, 1970. On March 28, 2005 the neighboring town of Fujishiro merged with the city, nearly doubling its size.

Toride is located on the JR East Joban Line and is near the Joban Expressway (which passes through neighboring Moriya). It is only 40 minutes to Ueno Station in Tokyo on one of the frequent express trains. For this reason, it is a popular bedroom community for many who work in Tokyo. It is also the terminus for the Joso Line, a diesel powered train, which heads off towards Moriya and Shimodate. Tokyo's Chiyoda Line (subway) has it's northernmost stop in Toride (the rails are integrated with the Joban line and go above ground near Tokyo). Highway 6, or the Mito Kaido, is the main road going through Toride, which connects Tokyo with Mito, Hitachi, and Iwaki. In addition, highway 354 crosses this highway in Toride. The Tone River passes along the southern border of Toride, which also marks the Ibaraki/Chiba border.

Toride is known for its Kirin brewery and the Nissin Cup Noodle factory.

Looks interesting.  Brewery and Noodle Cups, huh?  Been there?

Cheers,

Hugh

Hugh,

it would appear we have two Nicks in the area, now if only you could get that kind of product saturation worldwide things would be going well for you, yes?

Two Aksa Customers in the space of a couple of miles!

Nick.

Yes, a different Nick.

I'm the one who had a problem with the GK1 stuck on full volume (related to Theatre Bypass).

You are correct about Toride. My sister used to live near there for a few years and I went to stay a couple of times. I thought Japan was great, I loved the melodies played by the railway lines as trains arrive and depart eg see:

Also, I think the designer of Shelter cartridges comes from near Toride (Mr Ozawa?)

Off topic:

The letters in Toride can be easily rearranged to spell 'Triode'

Cool - a whole city dedicated to audio
