Short barreled flexible $25 interconnect needed
« on: 29 Apr 2006, 10:33 pm »
I picked up a cheap internet radio device (used Linksys WMLS11B) and need a recommendation for a decent sounding interconnect that has a short length connector and flexilble wire.

Linksys tried to be clever and provide veritcal jacks for the interconnect in a cutout at the back of the unit.

The problem is the connector length on my Radio Shack Gold interconnects are too long and thus the wire makes a near 90 degree bend to exit at the bottom of the cutout.

The length of the Scosche connectors on Signal cables is perfect but the cable that is used is too stiff to gracefully bend in the distance I am working with.

I am looking to keep it under $25 if possible. Any recommendations for a flexible interconnect with short connectors?

You might want to look at some Rockford Fosgate ICs for car audio...they make one called the Matrix, another called Riot. Both are braided OFC, and I think the Riot uses a silvered OFC for the signal carrier. Very flexible, with small RCA connectors.

I've not heard them so I can't comment on the sound...but they look nice!

I have some Fosgate RCA IC's, that have a 90 elbow AS the RCA connector on one end.

Would something like that work?

An interconnect with a 90 degree connector will work but the 90 degree adapter won't work because it will extend the effective barrel length even more.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out the Fosgate line.
