CD Tweak .......DVD? SACD?

CD sprays have been talked about before, but this is worth bringing up.

Here is a very inexpensive CD Tweak that I accidently found at my Lowe's Home Improvement Store.....

It's called "Plastic Cleaner" by Plaskolite,  8fl oz for $4.00 aprx!  On the bottle it says "Restores plastic surfaces to bright finish, for use with Optix, Plexiglas, and other Acrylic Plastics." Also says Anti Static.

This stuff does wonders for the sound, more depth, clarity, punch, and a slightly fuller sound.  Do a before and after and you will hear a difference, most of the time a good one. I sprayed it on both sides.  I have not tried it on a DVD yet or SACD.

If anyone tries it, let me know how it goes.  It's non flammable, non toxic, and there is no grit to it. It makes the cd surface shine like crazy.

While I can't say I'm familiar with this particular product I can advise that certain SACD discs, specifically those made by Sonopress, have had problems when Auric Illuminator was applied. You can check the hi-rez archives at AA for more details.

I remember reading Stereophile years ago when one of the reviewers touted Armor All for shining up the CDs - until he or someone else found that it actually somehow rotted the surface or something like that.  I wouldn't think this stuff would have that affect, however.  Since you're giving this stuff a shot I'd also think that Plexus would work really well.  It is specially formulated for plastics, specifically clear plastics used to see through (like the rear window in my Honda S2000).  It's great at removing grit, shining and actually getting rid of small scratches.  I've not tried it yet on CDs but it did make a world of difference on the reflective shield on my 50" rear projection set!

I have done a few more CD's and this stuff is something else.  For example, I have one of those Telarc Big Band  Parade Digital DDD CD's from 1988..whew..talk about digital sounding....acutally, the spray helped a bit with that, and also opend up the soundstage for gobs of depth and width.....it's almost is if it brings the whole presentation closer to you, the listener, as if you were sitting closer to the band etc. But that 1988 digital sound is not the most pleasing, that's for sure.
